$ cat a.gz | zcmp - b.gz 
/dev/fd/5 - differ: char 1, line 1
$ cat a.gz | zcmp b.gz -
cmp: EOF on -
$ cat a.gz | zdiff - b.gz 
1c1
< a
---
> b
$ cat a.gz | zdiff b.gz -
1d0
< b

For reference 'zcmp' from zutils does not have this issue.
