Thanks! By the way, I upstreamed your patch (since I had the same
issue with my woff2 packaging).

I was informed that the version 1.0.2 will be uploaded soon, which
will introduce a different library numbering scheme. I will upload it
asap, but it will take some time to go through experimental, though.

Hi,

I need libbrotli in order to build woff2 which will be needed for the
next major release of webkit2gtk. Could you do this upload soon?

2017-08-29 Thread Ondřej Surý
Hi,

unless there's an expectation that the SOVERSIONs will be different for
each package, I would just keep them together in the
libbrotli package. We can always split them later if such
change happens as it would require library transition anyway.

Cheers,

I did some work on the version in git now builds the shared libraries.
I've packaged all shared libs inside libbrotli, but probably should
split it more into 3 more libs (common, enc and dec). I'm however
surprised at the architecture: it would be much easier to just have a
one shared library for brotli in general.

Let me know what you think.

Hey Ondřej,
thank you for letting me know. I'll try to figure out how this works.

No problem, happy to co-maintain. I've just added you to the
debian/control in both packages. This will make it official after the
next upload (but feel free to improve things already :) ).

2017-06-22 Thread Ondřej Surý
Package: src:brotli
Version: 0.6.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer,

according to the brotli 0.6.0 changelog, the "C API is expected to be
final", so it might be a good time to start building the C libraries
from the sources.

I got a request to package Apache2 and Nginx modules, and I would
prefer to use a shared system library as a dependency.

(Also I would be happy to offer you a co-maintainship of brotli and
nghttp2 packages, as I use those in my apache2 and php PPA and DPA
repositories...)

Thanks,
Ondrej
