I don't know whether the authors of _The Long Dark_ got inspiration
from there, but Wintermute (Invernomuto in the Italian translation)
is one of the main [characters] of the novel _Neuromancer_ by William
Gibson...

my favorite games ;-)

No, this is the correct fix, it is a typo to have the \ there.

It is already fixed upstream at

With

  \documentclass[helvetica,narrow,italian,
 noflag,logo,totpages,booktabs]{europecv}

I get the following error:

  ! File ended while scanning definition of \ecv@cvofkey.
  
  l.3 \usepackage
  ! Emergency stop.
  
  l.3 \usepackage
  !  ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!

which does not occur, if I use:

  \documentclass[helvetica,narrow,english,
 noflag,logo,totpages,booktabs]{europecv}

By trial and error, I found out that the attached patch fixes (or works
around) the issue.

Is there a better fix, by chance?

Could you please apply my patch (or a better fix) and/or
forward my bug report upstream, as appropriate?
