Hi,

This is an issue in GtkStatusIcon, not Guake, so I've reassigned it. The same 
corrupted/duplicated
icon problem also happens in nm-applet and skypeforlinux (that one is 
proprietary) apps.

It has been fixed in GTK+ 3.24.3 upstream [1]. So the issue isn't present in 
Buster, but it still happens
in Stretch where GTK+3 is 3.22.11.

The debdiff with the fix for Stretch (from the upstream commit) is in the 
attachment.

Guake shows two windows in the system tray. It might be partially due
to the .xsession errors shared in #910535 by me. The rest the system
tray screenshot will show.
