Package: dhcp-probe
Version: 1.3.0
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

The 'dhcp-probe' package generates the initial configuration for the daemon in
the /etc/dhcp-probe/ directory. The postinst script uses the '/sbin/ifconfig'
command to detect the network interfaces present on the system and create
a configuration file for each one.

Unfortunately, the output format of the /sbin/ifconfig command in Debian
Stretch and beyond changed to the extent that the postinst script is not able
to correctly parse its output, does not detect any network interfaces and does
not create the configuration files for 'dhcp-probe' anymore. Thus, after
installation of the package, the daemon is not started for any network
interface and user is required to create the relevant configuration files by
hand for the service to operate.

I suggest that the postint script of the 'dhcp-probe' package should be
updated to use the /sbin/ip command instead. The /sbin/ifconfig command is
deprecated and does not provide sufficient details for it do be usable by
shell scripts.
