That's just descriptive stuff about the creation of the package
transferred over from the free form changelog.

I can't immediately see why it was removed, I don't even see
which restrictions you're referring to in the DLL FAQ. It could
*probably* be added back, though there might be something I'm
missing.

You might find https://tracker.debian.org/libz-mingw-w64 interesting.

Bug#919598: zlib: copyright file needs updating

2019-01-17 Thread Kai Pastor, DG0YT

Source: zlib
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

a) the zlib 1:1.2.11.dfsg-1 copyright file claims to be based on sources
from zlib-1.0.4.tar.gz which is obviously wrong.

b) the Files-Excluded field is not up-to-date for
zlib_1.2.11.dfsg.orig.tar.gz. The listed contrib/testzlib is in the DFSG
sources, but the now-removed win32 directory is not listed as
Files-Excluded.

The win32 directory is how I came here: I'm building for Mingw from the
Debian sources, which now fails. Is the removal of the win32 directory
neccessary? I do see the restrictions established in win32/DLL_FAQ.txt.
However, I don't think these restrictions are removed by removing this
file. They may apply to the DFSG sources as well, even with the win32
dir removed.

Best regards
Kai
