Package: src:ceph Version: 12.2.11+dfsg1-2.1 Severity: important Dear maintainer, dear Gaudenz,
I feel very sorry when I look at the current state of the Ceph package. It needs a lot more love than right now, and I hope this can be fixed in a timely maner. In fact, it is the 2nd time that I'm filling this type of bug in less than a year, the last time was just before the release, and we just saw a spike of maintainer activity at the very last time so Luminous made it into Buster. The package is so much outdated, that in https://bugs.debian.org/940854, someone is proposing an alternative Debian repository, and I saw at least 2 more of them like this. What we would need is Nautilus uploaded to Sid, and a backport of it maintained in Buster. The Ceph package currently is eligible according to the criterias of the developers-reference and the wiki at: https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch05.en.html#package-salvaging https://wiki.debian.org/PackageSalvaging#Eligibility_requirements_for_a_package Indeed: - there are open RC bugs - there are missing upstream releases - there is work needed from a quality-assurance perspective AND: - there is the need to upload the package to deal with these issues AND: at least one of these criteria applies: - There is no visible activity regarding the package for six months At least, the following bugs must be addressed to cancel this ITS: #936015, #936282, #760538, #940854 Gaudenz, if you can't give enough time for this package, could you consider relaxing your maintenance policy, and let others do the work? Will you be at the Vaumarcus mini-debconf, and can we find some time to discuss this around a beer or something? Cheers, Thomas Goirand (zigo)
