Bug#944755: pylucene: should this package be removed?

2019-12-15 Thread Ryan Tandy

reassign 944755 ftp.debian.org
retitle 944755 RM: pylucene -- RoQA; FTBFS; RC-buggy for 2 years
severity 944755 normal
thanks

Dear maintainer,

As there was no response in over a month I hereby reassign this bug to
ftp-masters as a removal request (RoQA).

To ftp-master: removing pylucene should also unblock removing the old
libasm4-java (#940067).

Bug#944755: pylucene: should this package be removed?

2019-11-14 Thread Ryan Tandy
Source: pylucene
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: proposed-removal

Dear Maintainer,

for these reasons:

- last upload over 2 years ago;
- FTBFS for over 2 years (#871366);
- fails to import under newer JDKs (#896299) with no response in over a year;
- out-of-date upstream version lacking Python3 support;

I suggest that pylucene should be removed from Debian unless someone can
step up to update it.

thanks,
Ryan
