When I run emacs-gtk or emacs-lucid (whether in daemon mode or not, and I have tried under many different window managers, including gnome and lxde) the included ansi-term function does not detect when a GUI frame is resized by, eg, dragging on a corner with the mouse. Doing any window-resizing using emacs keybindings (even popping up helm or similar) fixes the problem temporarily. Reproduction on a default install of emacs-gtk, Debian stable (no custom emacs configuration): 1. Run emacs 2. M-x ansi-term RET 3. echo $COLUMNS 4. Resize the frame using window manager controls 5. echo $COLUMNS 6.
