I uploaded vmdb2 0.24, which incorporates upstream commit bc42e2a,
which merges qemu-debootstrap into debootstrap. Could you check if the
issue persists?

I redid vmdb run and again got errors as attached.
qemu-user-static are from bullseye and sid.
Both trial failed.
