I see, thanks for confirming.

Understandable and agreed. However, right now the page on author's
website is much more useful to Debian users than the GNU web page.

Getting input from upstream is a good idea, I expect they are waiting
on someone in the FSF/GNU to be able to update the GNU web page.

Perhaps for the next upload you could use the page on the author's
website and switch it over to the GNU one when that gets updated?

PS: I noticed this because of the recent (now closed) ITP for GNU poke:

Thank you for the bug report.

The decision to use the gnu.org URL was made consciously: poke is a GNU
official project, and as such I think it is more correct to direct the
user to the GNU project's home page. Having said that, I agree that
ideally that page should contain everything related to poke without
redirecting the user to another URL.

I have contacted upstream and asked them which homepage they would like
the Debian package to point users to. My understanding is that they
want to make the gnu.org page the official one, but I may be wrong.

Thanks,

Package: poke
Version: 1.1+dfsg-2
Severity: minor

The web page at the URL in the current Homepage field says that the
homepage for GNU poke is elsewhere.

   $ apt-cache show poke | grep Homepage
   Homepage: https://www.gnu.org/software/poke/

   $ w3m -dump https://www.gnu.org/software/poke/ | grep -i homepage
   The poke homepage is at http://www.jemarch.net/poke.

The URL being suggested doesn't use https but does support https:

   $ diff -u <(curl -s http://www.jemarch.net/poke) <(curl -s
https://www.jemarch.net/poke)
