I agree, and I have been personally waiting for it too.

I don't think there is any, besides the fact that everyone has been
busy and hadn't gotten around to it yet?  :-)

So, I went ahead and upgraded it for the very first time.  2:1.16~1
has just been uploaded.  Hope I didn't introduce any new bugs!  Haha!

Dear Maintainer,

Please bump the version of the package to 1.16.

bookworm already includes 1.16, while the upstream stable version is 1.17.
It would be very helpful to have the default Go binary point to 1.16 now.

Are there any bugs that prevent updating the default?
