I'd like to put in my two cents on this issue: I find the current
behaviour slow and also somewhat annoying, and would urge this bug be
addressed. In fact, I think it is serious enough for a fix to get
through the freeze and into squeeze.

spice then has to be adjusted to support celt 0.9.
It is hard to upgrade to a new celt version, after upgrade, new client
will not able
to connect to old spice server.
So it is not a good idea to update celt

Even if it's not considered grave, this problem prevent me to use it on our
hardware.
I tried also the gtk-demo and all demos work perfectly on our hardware so I
definitely track down the problem in gtk-sharp2.
If someone can give me a hint, I can spend some time to help.
