time I use it.

I have this problem too.
It only affects 8.0, 7.4 still works.
If I add this line:
unix_socket_directory = '/var/run/postgresql'
to the config file '/etc/postgresql/8.0/main/postgresql.conf' it works again.

I am trying to compile a module for postgresql 7.4 without having to
download the entire postgresql source code.
