I am experiencing the same problem. Although I set http_proxy
variables etc. it still silently fails in fetching any data.

Is there a workaround for this, or is it simply

The problem is caused by the fact that the output from xfig is a bit

Hi,
You're right that it doesn't crash anymore, but it also doesn't work:
when clicking a zip the archive manager (file roller) is opened, but
it keeps saying Reading archive (with Archive: w3mtmp9714-0.zip as an
example of a filename) and does that forever. Downloading the file

Hi,
I just found out that if I remove the package ttf-arphic-uming, the
fonts are OK again. I filed a bug at that package: 405352.

I get the same problem when hovering on a toolbar icon in qt-assistant
and waiting for the tooltip. When it pops up, I get:

Installing this font breaks anti-aliassing in Qt applications like
qt-assistant, qt-designer and qt-config. Also breaks it in any pyqt4
application. See also bug 398236.

This font contains bitmap glyphs for sizes = 16pt. This is intentional
as for chinese users it's more important to have clear glyph rendering
than anti-aliasing. If you don't like it, reconfigure fontconfig and
turn off the bitmaps. Then it should be like you expected.

I don't think that would do justice to the problems it causes: it
influences all fonts = 16pt in Qt apps,

Just to mention that the same phenomenon also happens here at work (also Debian
testing system). Exactly the same problem. And also here, I setup some
terminals, by launching them and saving the session.
