debian stretch master machine:
0400 -> rotate save and quit -> 0400 and eom doesn't save the image
debian stretch virtual machine:
0400 -> rotate save and quit -> 0600 and eom saves the image

Hmmm, having tagged the bugs below as pending in a commit with the
message "upload to jessie-pu" before even filing the p-u bug seems
rather premature.
