FYI - since I had another bug related to gnome-settings-daemon and that it
was apparent there was still a mix of gnome 2.24 and 2.26 packages in
testing, I decided to force the installation of the gnome metapackage in
unstable to upgrade as many packages as possible to 2.26. Once this was
complete
