What harm is it in this module lying around?
One valid reason would be dependency on external libraries: odbc, pgsql,
netsnmp, radius, sqlite. We have a separate asterisk-h323 .

of problems is the following code from oslec/oslec_wrap.c:
static __inline__ uint64_t cycles(void) {
uint64_t x;
__asm__ volatile (rdtsc\n\t : =A (x));
return x;

This seems to cause harm on amd64. Is this a problem with AMD? with x86_64?

You should put stuff under /var if they are to be modified at system

The patches are in separate dpatch-es and applied cleanly. They don't
conflict with bristuff. However I cannot test them right now, so if
anybody is able to test them, please do so promptly, before I'll have to
remove them :-)

I'll also note that because of this conflict astman does not get built.
astman/Makfile checks for /usr/include/newt.h at asterisk build time
