Thank you. Since you reported on #1106411 that disabling iio-sensor-
proxy allowed the system to suspend, I think we can assume that the
failure to suspend is a symptom of the the same issue that starts with a
BUG log.

There has clearly been more progress made on the other bug report, so I
am merging them together. You don't need to reply to this one as well.

Ben.

Bug#1102522: linux-image-6.12.21-amd64: Fails to suspend Acer TravelMate Spin B311R-31

2025-07-12 Thread Kim Alvefur
Hi,

Thanks for responding. I'm the one who is sorry. Later I discovered an error in
the kernel logs and reported that as #1106411 and should have written something
here when we found that it affected suspend. Kernel logs and more context can
be found in that bug.

It still happens with the latest trixie kernel iff iis-sensor-proxy is started.

I have a bit more free time the next weeks and will look again at these.

Is this issue still present in the current kernel version (6.12.35-1
from triixe or 6.12.37-1 from unstable)?

If so, please send a full kernel boot log. The log extract that was
automatically included in your bug report is missing some important
early information.

Bug#1102522: linux-image-6.12.21-amd64: Fails to suspend Acer TravelMate Spin B311R-31

2025-04-09 Thread Kim Alvefur
Package: src:linux
Version: 6.12.21-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Since the end of March my Acer TravelMate has not been able to
completely suspend. If the lid is closed or a command like `systemctl
suspend` is issued it blanks the screen but an activity LED keeps
shining where earlier.

Last successful suspend and resume cycle was done with Linux version
6.12.12-amd64 on 2025-03-01, however the very last suspend may have
failed, based on `journalctl --boot -n` ending abruptly on 2025-03-30
and the next boot is Linux 6.12.20.

I upgraded the laptop to trixie on 2025-02-27, so the boot on 2025-03-01
should have been with a kernel from trixie.

With the help of snapshots.debian.org I have tried downgrading with the
help of the to a few versions of the kernel including 6.12.0 yet this
did not help and suspending still fails.

I also tried downgrading systemd but it sill failed to suspend.

Not entirely sure what other components may affect suspend, or how to
narrow it down.
