Currently VT100 characters are enabled if - the character set is not UTF-8 - there is a TERM variable set - the terminal has a VT100 character set So is this problem due to an incompatibility of the VT100 character set and the Cyrllic one or is it something more general? I could have a specific test for that CODESET and use ASCII if that is found. If you know a bit about C I can write a small program to find what charset is used, essentially printf("Charset is %s\n", nl_langinfo(CODESET)); -- Craig Small GnuPG:1C1B D893 1418 2AF4 45EE 95CB C76C E5AC 12CA DFA5 Eye-Net Consulting http://www.enc.com.au/ MIEE Debian developer csmall at : enc.com.au ieee.org debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
