Those were changes I committed into svn a long time ago, so the reasons
are long gone. The most likely reason is you or someone else DID say
to do that, then changed your mind.

So could you please update the template with the one I sent recently? If
you find issues or have questions, please do not hesitate to ask me. But
the current docbook-xsl versions really allow better semantics and
better output, so we don't need this self-written author and/or
copyright sections.

OK, looking at the bug report, I used what was found in 376378 and not
your bug report. Then they were merged so all seem right in the world.

You sent and email Dated Tue, 24 Apr 2007 17:29:03 +0200 (by the
website) that has the patch manpage.xml.ex in it, is that the correct
one?

Want to make sure the right one goes in this time.

Thanks. Please don't hesitate to contact me, if you want to add some

Bug#383495: Please update manpage.xml.ex to better work with latest docbook-xsl

2006-08-17 Thread Daniel Leidert
Package: debhelper
Version: 5.0.37.3

Hello,

I would like to request an update of the manpage.xml.ex example, dh_make
uses. After docbook-xsl 1.70.1 reached Debian Sid, the current example
will clash with the stylesheets:

- - the mail address should me moved into the author element and a contrib
  element should be added
- - the self-written AUTHOR section should be removed - the latest
docbook-xsl package automatically creates an AUTHOR section and it
also adds a COPYRIGHT section, that contains the copyright (copyright
element) and license information (legalnotice element).
- - several options inside a variablelist, should be put in several term
elements (this behaviour is now controlled via the
  variablelist.term.separator and variablelist.term.break.after
parameters) and not in one term element by default
- - the copyright year should be set to 2006 manually or replaced by
  dh_make too
- - referencing manpages should be done using the citerefentry element

IMHO the DocBook DTD can be raised to 4.4 too. I attached a sample
manpage.xml.ex, which improves the content and adds some more sections
samples, you can find in manpages (only sections also mentioned in the
Linux Man Page Howto). Have a look at it and tell me your opinion. I've
attached a sample manpage resulting from the example too.

Regards, Daniel
