Bug#502533: libswfdec-0.6-90: op-panel causes 100% cpu loop: swfdec_action_push: no constant pool to push from

2008-10-17 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Package: libswfdec-0.6-90
Version: 0.6.8-1
Severity: minor

The package op-panel is a flash application for monitoring an
Asterisk-based PBX. The Debian package includes buildable sources of the
applet.

A working demo can be found at the author's site:
http://www.asternic.org/
http://www.asternic.org/demo.php

(The link demo)

When running it in Debian it fails to properly display the buttons
prperly layed out on the screen and worse, runs into a 100% cpu loop
with the following printed to the standard error continously:

SWFDEC: ERROR: swfdec_as_interpret.c(380): swfdec_action_push: no constant pool
to push from

I found no way to stop it short of manually editing the address in the
URL bar or killing the browser. But this is an issue of the browser
(iceweasel).

ii swfdec-mozilla 0.6.0-4

stop

I found no way to stop it short of manually editing the address in the
URL bar or killing the browser. But this is an issue of the browser
 (iceweasel).

I've been talking with upstream of this issue, he tells me that the problem
here is that the script takes too much cpu (eats all of it) so you get an
unresponsive browser, on 0.8 version of swfdec the user input has a higher
priority so that in such a cases you can stop the script when it is eating
all the cpu, however this is not something that can be easily backported.

Even though on 0.8 has better user interaction (you can stop the playing)
this file still doesn't run correctly and will still take too much CPU on
swfdec.

Version 0.8 has been uploaded more than a month ago to unstable but it still
hasn't been installed by the ftpmasters.

Regards...

Just to add another data point that is only somewhat related to this
bug:

I checked the same page with gnash (0.8.3-6). No mad CPU loop, but still
nothing is placed correctly.

(Not reopening)
