 Hi

 I have exactly the same problem with this package.

Ok, this is definitaly a different issue than the one reported
initially.
It has been reported upstream here:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21001
Could you both see if you can help pinpointing the cause of the problem
together with upstream?

Thanks

Hummm. Sounds very odd.
Can you try the package available here[1] and see if it changes
anything?

Thanks

 Hello Mattia,
 i don't think it is a configuration issue in my case. I configure my
 touchpad with synclient and get vertical scrolling working for a short time
 (even after reboot scrolling working once). But when I use scrolling the
 second time it dosent working anymore, with same configuration.

Yes, enabling those features in the corresponding hal fdi file did the
trick. Setting the options in xorg.conf was simply ignored.

Bug#523946: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: VertScrolling stops working after update to version 1.1.0

2009-05-03 Thread Alexandre Rossi
 This does not seem to be the issue for me, as I successfully
 re-enabled Tapping and SHMConfig (for syndaemon) but vertical
 scrolling does not work even though the option is modified :
 $ synclient -l | grep Vert
     VertScrollDelta         = 25
     VertEdgeScroll          = 1
     VertTwoFingerScroll     = 0

 Can you also check the values of the various *Edge options?

$ synclient -l | grep Edge
LeftEdge= 40
RightEdge   = 983
TopEdge = 42
BottomEdge  = 725
VertEdgeScroll  = 1
HorizEdgeScroll = 1
EdgeMotionMinZ  = 14
EdgeMotionMaxZ  = 79
EdgeMotionMinSpeed  = 1
EdgeMotionMaxSpeed  = 102
EdgeMotionUseAlways = 0

You were right, calibrating as explained in the manual page (using
synclient -m 1), I managed to get back vertical scrolling using :
$ synclient RightEdge=930

No issue for me anymore, thanks!

As a side note, all options in hal fdi files must have a string
type, otherwise, it does not work.

 Also note that SHMConfig is not required anymore and is not even used by
 synclient if you don't specify the -s option.

syndaemon used to complain when SHMConfig is disabled... But this is
not the case anymore. Thanks.

By the way, the syndaemon manual page still lists a -s option (to use
the SHMConfig area), but it is not accepted by syndaemon.

Cheers,

Alex

Bug#523946: [xserver-xorg-input-synaptics] VertScrolling stops working after update to version 1.1.0

2009-04-13 Thread Mirko Weber
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.1.0-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi,

after updating to the newest version vertscrolling on my dell mini9 stopps
working. HorizontScrolling and Tapping (after enabling per synclient) works
without trouble.

The relevant parameter from synclient -l are:
   RightEdge   = 5312
VertScrollDelta = 100
VertEdgeScroll  = 1

The relevant part from Xorg.0.log are:
(II) Module synaptics: vendor=X.Org Foundation

Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 4.0

(**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: (accel) set acceleration profile 0
(--) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad touchpad found

In the xorg.conf are no section belonging to synaptics-Touchpad. The myserios
is, in my last session Vertscrolling working for a short time (less than a
minute) after setting RightEdge to another value like 5300. But I cant
reproduce this at the moment...

Any hints?

Thanks,
Mirko
