  This seems to have been fixed by a later update.
 
 I confirm this is now fixed, hence closing the bug.

Well, either it was fixed and it re-appeared, either this only happens
in some particular cases, but what is sure is that I have just been hit
by this issue again.

Hence re-opening this bug.

Hi,  When in a Jabber chat room, if the text I type is longer than the
available room in the input field, the window expends in width automatically,
rather than adding extra lines. This does only happen when the contact list is
displayed.  Though it doesn't prevent from using empathy, it makes it hard
