I had a closer look, and start to suspect that the rtcwake command is
operating on the same setting as the acpiwakeup() method in the
shutdown-at-night shell script:

If I understand this correctly, we do not need to use systemd but can call
the rtcwake (from util-linux at
Package: shutdown-at-night
Version: 0.14
We should consider adding systemd support for waking up the computer in
the morning. The method described on

look like something shutdown-at-night could use too.
