And FTP masters rejected it.

Can we upload this fix only instead while you ponder on making your
tarball clean enough?

I can very well do a NMU if you're ok.
In my hopes today I'd have have libssl1.0.0 removed, this package is the
last one that I hope to have fixed rather than broken.

I don't particularly care about libssl 1.1.0 right now, I want to finish
1.0.0 → 1.0.2.
1.0.2 → 1.1.0 will probably not start that soon, there are *a lot* of
packages failing with it.

I'll sponsor it, because I want this through, and I hope FTP masters
will review it quickly, but know that were I have more time I'd have
quite a lot of things to rant about…

No, it will not: ace 6.3.4 does not build with libssl 1.1.0 and nobody is
working on fixing that upstream. After all the problems caused by OpenSSL
fixes by non-experts, I will not venture into that muddy field.

A source package for ace 6.3.4 with the kfreebsd patch is available here.
It works on sid but fails on experimental:

https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/ace/

Now I only need someone to upload it to the archive. Thomas? :-)

This would fit just about great in my plan of removing libssl1.0.0 in
the first days of July, so, cool!

Thanks already! :)

Debian maintainers: could you please upload this as a patch in the
meantime?
If you prefer or can't, I could NMU it, at your convenience.

No schedule is known yet, depends on when someone funds the effort to
make a new release, it is always a few days of work.

Great, Do you also have a timeframe for that?
If this is scheduled in some months, I wouldn't really mind a debian
upload with this patch in the meantime :)

The last 6.3.4 has not been packaged yet, but given that (if I'm looking
at it correctly), it has been released not even one month ago, it's
probably ok.

Since 6.3.x ace does not build on kfreebsd anymore.

For some reason I can't fanthon 3 lines where happily removed, please
reinstate them :)

Attached, the quilt patch I tested to build on kfreebsd-amd64.

Please consider fixing this in a timely manner, it's one blocker against
the removal of the old libssl1.0.0, and the old kbsd binaries of ace
depend on it.
