Bug#840996: gle: are you still interested in maintaining it?

2016-10-31 Thread Jamie Wilkinson
Dear Mattia,

Thanks for your mail. I find your final paragraph confusing however -- if
you yourself are not prepared to take over its maintenance, why are you
asking this question? Do you not think that other open source maintainers
are also volunteering their time?

The fact that only 2 NMUs has happened since 2009 is a testament to the low
maintenance required on this mature package.

However, xscreensaver only has a couple of hacks that require GLE, and
while I like having them available, I don't think declaring GLE as a key
package because of that tenuous dependency is a truthful statement to
make. So if the release is indeed in jeopardy because neither myself nor
you or any other maintainer with the power to NMU can be bothered to fix
it, then the xscreensaver maintainer can drop the build-dep without much
fuss.

Dear gle maintainer,

your last upload has been in 2009, and since then 2 NMU happened (I just
uploaded the second). In the first case you ack the bug promising an
upload that never happend, and in the second it was an RC with no
replies from you in 6 months.

Are you really still interested in this package? It's a key_package, as
xscreensever (package with high popcon) depends on it, so RC bugs in
this package have the ability to stall the release.

Mind that I have no real interest in the package, and that I do not want
to take over its maintenance.
