Package: bugs.debian.org
Version: 2.54+dfsg-7
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

It would be great if we could move the canonical URL for a bug the
shorter, cleaner and less ugly:

  https://bugs.debian.org/846499

instead of

  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=845325

The latter also can be problematic due to the escaping of '?'. I
understand that this is planned. However, this bug is to:

a) Track that status

b) Explore whether there are some interim changes we can make. For example,
when we generate emails, we currently use the "/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=X"
format in the footer; we could immediately switch to "/X" here without any
issue whatsoever AFAICT.

Any thoughts, especially on "b" … ?

Regards,
