Thanks for the report, and for the manpage.
/usr/bin/showtable actually conflicts with libdata-showtable-perl. I am
not really happy to use the ".py" suffix for the rename, since usually
utilities should not have language specific suffixes. Instead. I opened
an upstream issue

Hi,
The showtable script is, I think, useful and should be packaged. I created
a manpage (attached) based on the script help. As there is already
a showtable.1 manpage in casacore-tools, maybe we can rename the script to
showtable.py.
