Source: gnustep-back
Severity: wishlist

After installing the libgnustep-gui-dev package, a gnustep backend package must
also be installed in order to run the built GNUstep GUI apps.

Currently, the gnustep-backend packages are only available with versions in
their name (i.e. "gnustep-back0.26", "gnustep-back0.26-cairo", etc.) which
means that scripts & written instructions for installing a 'libgnustep-gui-
dev'-based build environment have to know the version of the available gnustep-
back package, or have extra steps/logic to figure it out.

If there was a "gnustep-back" package without a version in its name,
instructions & scripts for installing a libgnustep-gui-dev build environment
could simply use the "apt-get install libgnustep-gui-dev gnustep-back" command,
and that command would work with future versions of the gnustep back packages,
without additional logic for finding the versioned package name.
