Source: gnustep-back Severity: wishlist After installing the libgnustep-gui-dev package, a gnustep backend package must also be installed in order to run the built GNUstep GUI apps.
Currently, the gnustep-backend packages are only available with versions in their name (i.e. "gnustep-back0.26", "gnustep-back0.26-cairo", etc.) which means that scripts & written instructions for installing a 'libgnustep-gui- dev'-based build environment have to know the version of the available gnustep- back package, or have extra steps/logic to figure it out. If there was a "gnustep-back" package without a version in its name, instructions & scripts for installing a libgnustep-gui-dev build environment could simply use the "apt-get install libgnustep-gui-dev gnustep-back" command, and that command would work with future versions of the gnustep back packages, without additional logic for finding the versioned package name. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)
