That's approximately 10 year old hardware (the same chipset is in the
Lenovo X200/X200s, released in 2008 with a Core 2 Duo CPU) so it wouldn't
surprise me if the darkplaces developers have brought in a dependency
on an OpenGL feature that is accelerated on newer hardware, but has to be
emulated (slowly) on the GM45.

(Note that CPUs of that generation are no longer supported by Intel and
will not be receiving microcode updates for the Spectre and Meltdown
vulnerabilities.)

What video hardware is this on?

Are you using X11 or Wayland or what? Which desktop environment, if any?

Would you be able to try an intermediate version from
?
That might help to locate what has caused that slowdown.

Video hardware: Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset.
Software: X.Org X Server 1.19.6.
Desktop environment: LXDE.

Version 0~20170829~beta1-1 is also slow, so the regression is between versions 
0~20140513+svn12208-7 and 0~20170829~beta1-1.

0~20140513+svn12208-7), Nexuiz slowed down to about 8 frames per second, which 
made it unplayable. With the previous version, I could get 30-40 FPS on most 
maps.
