Unless I'm misreading, there is no data loss since the tar.gz is not
deleted nor its contents affected. The problem is that files can't be

Turns out that svn-workbench was only still running on the unaffected
system because it was still running from a few days ago. Closing and
restarting leads to exactly the same error so raising the severity of
the bug because now svn-workbench doesn't start on either system.
