very recently began to ship a hard link in the binary
package, thus this bug is more probably caused by
'binutils' than by 'hardening-wrapper'.
My development system using testing/i386 is not yet
bitten by this bug, but
A recovery method:
It is the file '/usr/bin/ld.bfd.real.dpkg-new'
that causes the failure. Moving this back to
'/usr/bin/ld.bfd.real', it is possible to
remove the package 'hardening-wrapper',
then reinstall the broken 'binutils',
