I can witness the behaviour of the autobuillders just fine on my
kfreebsd-amd64 development box. Below experimenting with the failing
command. Maybe there's some chmod +x missing? Unfortunately I don't
speak awk so can't really digg any further.

we (Christophe Trophime and I) were trying to fix the bug.
Adding -fPIC to CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS partly fixes the problem,
but it still fails to build on linking stage with the following message:
