I agree that the 2.4 branch is completely outdated. We should switch to a newer branch. The 2.5 and 4.1 branches are not suitable for Debian due to licensing issues. But the 4.2 branch is licensed under the same license as the 2.4 branch, so I suggest we upload the 4.2.9 release to unstable.
