Hi all,

I have installed the applet from experimental on my testing (Squeeze) system,
however, have been unable to get it to function.

Firstly, the applet crashes plasma when it is removed. (First thing I do when
I add a widget/applet is to remove it.) The auto-bug reporter/manager gives no
helpful information so far as the trace goes.

Once added I am able to click the manage connections button and successfully
manage to add my connection. The applet also allows me to see other available
connections when adding my own.

However, the left hand side of the applet is paralysed -- clicking on the Wifi
'button' (large on the left hand side) has no effect, nor does clicking the
Connections button in the top-right of the applet. In effect, I can do nothing
other than click manage connections or enable/disable networking/wireless.

I have no doubt that these bugs will be fixed in the near future.

I can, however, report that the UUID fix worked. Since many are uncomfortable
installing from experimental (and, as in my case, it does not always work) it
might be worth either blocking this version of network-manager if
knetworkmanager is installed or patching it so as to fix the UUID problem. I
hate it as much as the next person -- but it does the job -- just.

Polemically yours, Freddie.
