I believe this is because the package was built against dpkg-dev without
multiarch support. To make sure this won't accidentally happen again, I
suggest the following changes to packaging:
1) Add dpkg
Package: adequate
Version: 0.4
Severity: serious
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole
If root uses the --user option, then the user can hijack the tty with the
TIOCSTI ioctl.
This is similar to CVE-2005-4890.

If you don't want to use any build system, you have to override every
dh_auto_*.
Otherwise, you have to build-depend on packages that are needed for
the build system to work (in this case: python-all).

Please don't, unless you fancy your software segfaulting. find_library
is fundamentally broken: it gives you a library with unpredictable ABI.
