thanks a lot for reporting the bug and fixing all those issues.
I took some time to take a look at them and added most of them to my
package.
I did not add the automake dependency, but instead copied the files to
the directory.
I additionally added some dummy text to gnomeclient/NEWS. I
Fireflier has always been a native debian package, as I directly develop
using debian (though there might be some reasons not do it that way
anyways).
This is only a small bugfix release, and I will have to check this
compile problem.

I have currently prepared fireflier_1.1.6-3, which will fix those problems.
I modified the build process, so that it no longer needs automake (but instead
distributes the configure script).
