Yes, once more sorry about following up on that bug. I just thought it
was related...
I will try to remove (and purge) xmltex !

Followup-For: Bug #421969
While trying to upgrade this package, a huge number of etex and pdfetex
sub-processes were created. Probably hundreds of them ! It ate all my
memory (i.e. more than 2GB of RAM) and I had to kill them by hand to
regain control
of xmltex and now it seems to be working properly.
