Dear maintainer, Quoting from bug #949570: Your package should not use the private binutils shared libraries. If it cannot be dropped, then please link those statically and document it with the Built-Using tag in the binary package. libbfd and libopcodes seem to be considered as a private interface because their API/ABI is too unstable. This is stated in the description: Description: GNU binary utilities (BFD development files) This package includes header files and static libraries necessary to build programs which use the GNU BFD library, which is part of binutils. Note that building Debian packages which depend on the shared libbfd is Not Allowed. Paul
