xserver_xorg-code conflicts with xserver-xorg-video (provided by lots of packages, including the xserver-xorg-video-fbdev 1:0.1.0.5-2 I'm currently using.) I forgot to mention: this is perfectly normal, the new video drivers provide xserver-xorg-video-1.0, not xserver-xorg-video. BTW I

Could you try upgrading xserver-xorg-xxx to unstable version to see whether the problem persists in later versions? Just tried that, setting source.list to unstable, starting interactive aptitude, and trying to '+' various xorg-related packages. All of them seemed to run afoul of

Hi! I'd be stunned if this was actually a server problem, and not a client-side problem related to grabs. Which window manager do you use? Does changing it fix anything? I use openbox. However, I don't think it's a client side problem, as no grabs can prevent Ctrl-Alt-F1 and such to work.
