Subject: fglrx-driver: flgrx fully broken by new xorg versioning policy
Package: fglrx-driver
Version: 8.28.8-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Hi,

fglrx now fails to load because /usr/bin/Xorg -version answers 1.3.0 (I used to
answer 7.1.0). See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420306 to
unserstand that it is not a bug but a better versioning policy.
However, it prevents fglrx to work :
(II) LoadModule: "fglrx"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//fglrx_drv.so
(II) Module fglrx: vendor="FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc."
        compiled for 7.1.0, module version = 8.28.8
        Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.0
[R200Setup] X version mismatch - detected X.org 1.3.0.0, required X.org 7.1.0.0
(II) UnloadModule: "fglrx"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//fglrx_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module "fglrx" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

I cannot see a simple patch to solve the pb for now :(

BTW, I have also tried this an up to date fglrx driver and the pb is the same.

Xavier
