Package: empathy
Version: 3.2.1.1-1
Severity: important

empathy does not start and does not even show an error message (in gui).
when i try to start it from a terminal the output is:

failed to create drawable

(empathy:4529): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to initialize Clutter: Unable to
select the newly created GLX context

(empathy:4529): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'empathy' received an X Window
System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadGC (invalid GC parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 159 error_code 13 request_code 60 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

this error makes it completely unusable.

Indeed. I tried to run empathy with various renderers (Mesa, swx11,
llvmpipe). All of them have the same version string now, and in all
cases empathy works fine.

I’m closing the bug. Please reopen only if you have a way to reproduce
this in wheezy/sid.

Cheers,
