Hi, I'm in the same situation and since I'm using sysvinit I'd like to have more explanations about this fix, especially what mario asked about it: "So from now is not possible to use X without systemd?" I can see a newest version in sid (2:1.17.3-2) that has libpam-systemd as recommended

I suppose the answer is xserver-xorg-legacy, as long as it works I don't care to run X as root like I do since a decade... Am I right? Cheers.
