Upstream do not maintain a SONAME, and I maintain a symbols file to 
track changes more granularly.

Both reverse dependencies now have been rebuilt, so I believe this 
concrete bug is fixed (and I will keep in mind to be more cautious in 
the future cherry-picking ABI-changing patches).
