The Debian policy mandates that build errors cause the build to abort. This is not the case for funtools' Makefile.in. In line 236 it executes mklib and an error from that tool is ignored. The build will continue even if that command fails. It turns out that it can fail for cross compilation and the fact that errors aren't trapped makes such failures unnecessarily difficult to debug and violates policy section 4.6. Helmut
