Bug#391689: python-support: 0.5.3 doesn't always generate python dependencies (python-script-but-no-python-dep)

2006-10-08 Thread Cameron Dale
Package: python-support
Version: 0.5.3
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.4 of the Python Policy

I filed a bug about this before (#383958), and it was fixed in 0.4.2. However,
some time between 0.4.3 (which worked) and 0.5.2 (which doesn't) this change
was removed (I just checked, and 0.5 worked fine, but 0.5.1 didn't). Using the
recommended implementation of python-support again generates no python
dependencies to be included in the Depends line.

Even though the changelog for 0.5.3 says:
   * dh_pysupport: always generate dependencies.
it also doesn't generate the correct dependencies

Interestingly, the control file for my package (bittornado) is for 2 binary
packages, bittornado and bittornado-gui. The ${python:Depends} for the first
gets replaced with python-support (= 0.2) which leads to the error, while
the second gets python. This seems strange too, as I think both should be
getting python, python-support (= 0.2), but maybe because the second
depends on the first it doens't include the python-support depend for that
one. I'll try to attach my control file to see if that helps explain it.

I felt the severity was justified, as dh_python is now deprecated in
debhelper, so for users of python-support this is the only way to specify
the python dependencies. If I've made a mistake somewhere, please let me
know, as my package's latest version being included in Etch may be at stake.

Had a little further look into this.

Think that the .pyc were compiled using a python version 2.3 but we in
unstable use python 2.4 and so this error occurs. The package just has
to be compiled again using the current unstable python version and set
 the dependencies accordingly.

Thanks, I'll do so ASAP.

Hi

I build a package in pbuilder which needs unsermake to build and it stops with
the following error message:

unsermake
/usr/bin/unsermake: line 11: exec: python2.4: not found
make: *** [build-stamp] Error 127

Currently I don't see a dependency against python in unsermake. I didn't
investigate if it is missing for every architecture, but at least for i386.

Cheers

Bug#390008: [PATCH] ser postgres module build fix (was: Re: ser in etch?)

Steve McIntyre [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

A trivial patch to aug_sysdep.h is enough to get the module to
build. I had the same problem in OpenSER, it's only a conditional
define for a string that needs to be slightly modified.

OK, there's an easy fix for #390008. Is it as simple as losing the
#error? If more is needed, can you add a patch on the bug report
 please?

Attached is the patch I applied to OpenSER.

Here is the patch I applied to OpenSER. It relies on debian/rules

(there are whitespace-related changes in the patch, it probably won't
apply as is)

2006-10-08 Thread Jose Carlos Garcia Sogo

  Hi,

As far as I can tell Mono is not available in s390, thus any package
depending on it will be. This makes this bug not RC, as never has been a
beagle-dev package in s390.

  I am downgrading this bug.

Bug#391181: NMU (delayed-7) for closing #391181

2006-10-08 Thread Alexis Sukrieh
tags 391181 + patch
thanks

Hi,

I've just uploaded a fix for that bug to the delayed queue (7 days).
Here is attached the patch I applied for closing the bug and enhancing a
bit the package shape.

Basically, it's about fixing lintian errors (#DEBHELPER# tags were
missing in maintainer scripts) and making sure the cron.d script behaves
correctly.

I also added a postrm script that takes care manually of the purge
phase.

Regards,

Package: libept-dev
Version: 0.4.2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

Considering libept.pc's declaration of

Requires: ... sigc++-2.0 ...

and some libept headers' inclusion of libsigc++ headers, libept-dev
really ought to declare a dependency on libsigc++-2.0-dev. (As it
stands, debtags currently FTBFS on all architectures because the
buildds don't know to install libsigc++-2.0-dev.)

Could you please remedy this when you get a chance?

Thanks!

Bug#391725: kerry: change build-dependency on beagle-dev for libbeagle-dev

2006-10-08 Thread Jose Carlos Garcia Sogo
Package: kerry
Severity: serious

  Hi,

With latest upload of beagle (0.2.10-2) I have splitted beagle-dev in
two packages: old beagle-dev will only contain files needed for C#
development, while new libbeagle-dev will contain pieces needed for C
development. As I think you are only using libbeagle, you should
change your build dependencies to depend on libbeagle-dev.

  Cheers,

Bug#391721: beaglefs: change build dependency from beagle-dev to libbeagle-dev

2006-10-08 Thread Jose Carlos Garcia Sogo
Package: beaglefs
Severity: serious

  Hi,

With latest Beagle uploade (version 0.2.10-2) I have splitted
beagle-dev in two packages: the old beagle-dev will from now on only
contain files needed for C#, while there is a new libbeagle-dev
  package for C stuff.

As I think you are only using C bindings, you should build depend on
libbeagle-dev, and you will also benefit on not needing to install
  beagle to compile this package.

  Cheers,

The maintainer does not have time to work on this. A new upstream
version fixing this problem is available (and has been since 2004),
but I refuse to update the package since I don't want to be upstream
for the package.

Therefore I suggest removing the package from Debian. If someone
actually cares, let them upload the new upstream version and start
anew.

Bug#391720: Package logwatch doesn't install default config

2006-10-08 Thread Ka Teznik
Package: logwatch
Version: 7.3-2
Severity: grave
Tags: etch

I just installed logwatch on an etch fresh install
Directories /etc/logwatch and subdirectories are empty

I suggest post-inst should run the commands listed
in /usr/share/doc/logwatch/README, ie :

mv local.conf /etc/logwatch/conf
touch /etc/logwatch/conf/logwatch.conf
touch /etc/logwatch/conf/ignore.conf
touch /etc/logwatch/conf/override.conf

I am using Debian GNU/Linux testing/etch, kernel 2.6.17-2-686

Cheers for the work anyway.

Bug#375215: udevd don't start with libnss-ldap when using TLS ...

2006-10-08 Thread boris
 # /etc/init.d/udev start
 - Starting the hotplug events dispatcher: udevdFatal: no entropy gathering
 module detected failed!

This happened when i use TLS / SSL in libnss-ldap.conf
if i change it according to

 uri ldaps://ldap.r.de:636/
---
 uri ldap://ldap.r.de:636/

 ssl start_tls
 ssl on
---
 #ssl start_tls
 #ssl on

udev starts.

OK however the real problem seems to be that /dev/random /dev/urandom is not
in the initial (before udevd is started) /dev tmpfs.
So TLS / SSL is not working and udevd not starting.

Bug#390615: (no subject)

2006-10-08 Thread martin f krafft
tags 390615 unreproducible
thanks

I cannot reproduce this problem. I installed aspell-it on sid and
ran a check over a file:

  aspell -l it check /tmp/mobydick.txt

of course it didn't like most of the spelling, but there were no
errors.

I would like to close this bug. Any objections from the maintainer?

Hi,

as seen packages.debian.org [1], the openser-jabber-module

This seems to be a toolchain problem. From the build log:

 compilation terminated.

Bug#391758: plone-cms: No upgrade path for 2.1 to 2.5

2006-10-08 Thread Gerrit Jan Baarda
Package: plone-cms
Version: cmfplone
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

After upgrading to plone-2.5 all my 2.1 instaces are gone.

The upgrade causes zope 2.9 to be installed, and updates plone packages in
zope2.8 instances. This leaves a non-functional
system.

The 2.8 instances are now broken, since they have ben upgraded to
packages that need 2.9 or higher, and no attempt is made to migrate plone
sites
to the 2.9 instance.

Ideally, the update of plone/zope should give the option of duplicating
or migrating instances to zope 2.9, but there should at least be a warning that
this
upgrade will break your existing plone sites in a major way.

Keep up the good work,

Gerrit jan

Bug#391759: gnome-media: FTBFS because of new libnautilus-burn-dev

Package: gnome-media

Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The libnautilus-burn-dev currently in Testing cannot be used to build
gnome-media,
because several components look for nautilusburn headers in the wrong paths.
AFAICT
the cure appears to be adding the missing leading paths to each #include
related to
nautilusburn items.

Bug#391756: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on apache2-common

2006-10-08 Thread Luk Claes
Package: libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql
Severity: serious
Version: 2.0.3-3

Hi

Your package is not installable as it depends on apache2-common which is not
available in unstable anymore. You might want to update the dependency to
apache2.2-common.

Cheers

Luk
