Bug#591674: bug to keep sablotron from testing

2010-08-05 Thread Andreas Tille

The package also has a reverse-dependency - arb - which is non-free and
not on the wanna-build whitelist (ignoring the fact that non-free building

aware, as removing sablotron from testing will also necessitate removing
 arb.

I have some mixed feelings about arb. It causes trouble regarding
dependencies in several ways (needs motif, does not work with lesstif)
and other stuff I do not really like. So if there are stron reasons
to kick sablotron this would probably a good reaosn to finally kick
arb as well. However, is there any plugin replacement for sablotron
which I might recommend to upstream?

Kind regards

afaics, an upload fixing this bug has not occurred yet, although it has
now been marked as pending for a few months; do you have any plans to do
 so in the near future?

Being VAC, I don't have the necessary bandwidth. I'm full-quoting you to
frankie@, who is the real maintainer (I just made a tagpending run as
teamwork, I didn't fix that bug myself).

Kindly,
David

Bug#587967: gnash: unbuildable in sid, depends on removed boost1.40

2010-08-05 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
[ adding #575089, the memory leak bug, to cc ]

Hi!

* Miriam Ruiz little_m...@yahoo.es [100805 02:01]:

[..] As a newer version is about to be released, and hoping that it
fixes the memory leak, I'll wait a couple of weeks and upload it.

A couple of weeks is quite a lot of time before a hopefully soon freeze.
Would you please consider to upload to experimental soonish (as
upstreams work permits to do so), so it can be tested, if the memory
leak got closed?

Best Regards,
  Alexander

IRC bots which do not take care of removing carriage returns and line
feeds from parameters they send to the IRC component are vulnerable to
this security hole. For example, passing an argument of foo bar\rQUIT
to the 'privmsg' handler will cause the client to disconnect from the
server.

All versions of POE::Component::IRC are affected.

This has been patched upstream (relevent commits:
http://github.com/bingos/poe-component-irc/compare/d2ead04...675f55cd)
and included in the latest release (version 6.32).

Bug#591674: bug to keep sablotron from testing

2010-08-05 Thread Ondřej Surý
Sorry I forgot the check the dependency only on libsablot0.

I think that xsltproc can be used to process XSLT files, but I doubt
it's drop-in replacement.

Sablotron was moved to sourceforge in February this year, but I would
recommend that we leave to die in peace.

I've read that 3.7.0.1 won't contain the fix for this bug. Still,
reading the commits[1]:
[5074b85967] Update the version number to 3.7.0.1. (user: drh, tags:
branch-3.7.0)
[3f367fe00e] Backport fix 267492d3a7eff7b for the performance regression caused
by automatic indexing and reported by ticket 8011086c85c6c4040. (user: drh,
tags: branch-3.7.0)

Ticket 8011086c85c6c4040 seems to be your bugreport[2] and it said to be
backported to the 3.7.0 branch and targeted at 3.7.0.1 .

I also reproduced it using HEAD,
and upstream also confirms that it's still present.

Strange, are you sure you've commit 3f367fe00e [3] in your tree?

That's the ticket that drh had me test, and yes I do have that commit
in my tree. Bug is still present regardless. See the URLs present in
my mail to the upstream list (for reference, they are [0]) if you wish
to reproduce for yourself. :)

This has now been fixed upstream. Here's the bug:

 http://www.sqlite.org/src/info/13f033c865f878

Would you like to backport the fix (presumably after updating to
3.7.0.1)? I will prepare the patch if so.

Cheers,
Iain

Bug#591196: otrs2: does not build .swf files from source

2010-08-05 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Hi!

* Patrick Matthäi pmatth...@debian.org [2010-08-02 18:20:03 CEST]:
Am 02.08.2010 03:27, schrieb Raphael Geissert:
No, the problem is in both packages. If the libjs-yui maintainers fix
it then you could use the same solution, but your package is as
faulty as theirs. You can fix otrs2 by dropping the file from the
 tarball.

Sorry, my fault, bad day :)

I have cloned the report now and added a blocker.
I can not remove the .swf files simply, because otrs needs charts.swf.

If you can't remove the file - is there source included at all? If not
the package is in violation of its license because the GPL requires the
source to be available. So if no source is to be found this package has
to get removed all together because of GPL requirements, we aren't
allowed to distribute it without source. If source is available the
package can get moved to contrib because I fear there are no free
compilers for that available.

 Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi Carlo and Marco, and thanks for reporting and reassigning this bug.

I'm hereby cloning it in various parts in order to track the various
issues you reported separately.

debian-security: the -2 above might be of interest, as advised by Marco.
Josua (upstream): please comment on the various bugs separately if
possible.

On Thu, 5 Aug 2010 02:50:22 +0200, m...@linux.it (Marco d'Itri) wrote:
For a start, usb_modeswitch is broken because it expects /usr/bin/tclsh
(and /usr/bin/logger, and /var/log/ and probably more) to be available
 at boot time.

That will be tracked as #591722.

To the usb_modeswitch maintainer: please also remove from the script
crap like the recursive greps over /etc/udev/rules.d /lib/udev/rules.d
which make the boot unnecessarily slower. If this is needed because
another package is buggy then have if fixed and add a conflict.

That will be tracked as #-1.

And unless I am missing something, the usage of /tmp/gsmmodem_* is
insecure (if confirmed, please clone the bug and contact the security
team). And expected to *not* work at boot time. And subject to races.
And just plain ugly. What did the author think?

This as #-2.

Last but not least, if the program started by a RUN rule really needs to
sleep multiple times (hint: probably not with a modern kernel) then it
 must fork and daemonize.

And this as #-3.

Thanks in advance for eventual advices,

OdyX

Bug#591193: about not building swf files from source

2010-08-05 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Hi!

The initial message about this issue was pretty terse and I hope to
offer additional information to you through this message.

The issue your package is facing might be divided into two groups:
Packages that have the source to the .swf file available (like in .fla
or .as form from what I understood) and packages that don't.

For those with the source included the package is facing to be
potential moved from main to contrib. This is because packages in main
are required to only need tools that are available in main to produce
their binaries from their sources, and there unfortunately aren't such
tools in main (yet, TTBOMK). So moving them to contrib is an option to
them for keeping them as they are.

For those without source included they have to go either to non-free
(if their license allows binary distribution without source) or they
have to get removed from the pool in case they are licensed under
something like GPL or similar which requires the source to be available,
too.

One option available to both groups of packages is of course to remove
the flash files all together, if that's an option for your package.

Hope this helps you for your decision on how to move on. Thanks for
your support and effort for Debian in any case!

 Enjoy!
Rhonda

Bug#591193: about not building swf files from source

2010-08-05 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Hi!

* Gerfried Fuchs rho...@debian.at [100805 12:46]:

This is because packages in main are required to only need tools that
are available in main to produce their binaries from their sources,
and there unfortunately aren't such tools in main (yet, TTBOMK).

Citing from then #debian-ftp channel:

04:17:49 raphael dear ftp-masters, could you please make sure that NEW
packages do _build_ the .swf files during the build process if they
  ship any? TIA
04:21:14 Ganneff would there be an easy way to check it?
04:24:59 raphael if they b-depend on haxe, mtasc, or swftools (if it
gets uploaded again) they probably do
04:25:43 dondelelcaro probably can be a lintian check

So there seems to be three tools available.

Best Regards,

Do you have some investigation or test to do before I upgrade to this

May I help you, making some tests with newest version of grub-pc ?

Yeah, I agree. However, I tested all packages in unstable, and only
zookeeper and hbase-daemons-common segfaulted during removal. So I'm not
sure if the bug is triggered by something special that those packages
would do or not.

According to the log, it's update-alternatives that segfaults in both
case, so reassigning both bugs to dpkg.

The fallback solution would be to only provide one version of the
library, built for the oldest CPU we want to support. That would fix
the problem for squeeze, and sounds reasonably easy to do.

Bug#534268: SVN::Web bug - configuration

2010-08-05 Thread Dean Hamstead
I have discovered the source of this bug (no i havent spent the last 6
months on it)

in sub crack_url

...snip.8...
# This is used as the key in to the hash of configured repositories.
# It may be the empty string, in which case the action to run is
# the 'list repositories' action.
if($location eq $filename) {
$repo = ''; # No repo, show repo list
$action = 'list';
} else {
...snip.8...

this $location eq $filename doesnt factor in superfluous trailing
slashes. for example /var/www/svn/repos/svnweb is equal to
/var/www/svn/repos/svnweb/ even though perls |eq| function doesnt agree
with that.

as a results here is the most quirky part, this apache config works...

Alias /svnweb /var/www/svn/svnweb
this doesnt
Alias /svnweb/ /var/www/svn/svnweb

the pod for this module does specify the Alias statement with /svnweb
with no trailing slash.

i could probably make a patch for this, but im working now with the
corrected apache config.

Hi,

I'm not the package maintainer, just trying to help with RCs.

I can't really reproduce your bug, and I can't think of a way to
trigger that problem. How are you configuring SVN::Web? Are you
accessing directly through svnweb-server or are you configuring some
independent web server like Apache? In any case, which URL are you
visiting to trigger that error? Do you really have one or more SVN
repositories inside /var/www/svn/repos, or is that path itself an SVN
repository?

Also, about the FreeBSD port patches, I don't think they're relevant
for this problem, and it seems they were applied in the next package
revision (0.53-3) anyway (which I assume has the same problem?).

Bug#591761: #591761 (was: Fwd: Bug#591722: udev: I have to connect my internet key after boot to have it working)

2010-08-05 Thread Didier 'OdyX' Raboud
Hi Josh and Marco,

I'm hereby transmitting Josua's answer to the correct bugreport, please follow
up on the separate bugreports.

This is for #591761:

And unless I am missing something, the usage of /tmp/gsmmodem_* is
insecure (if confirmed, please clone the bug and contact the security
team). And expected to *not* work at boot time. And subject to races.
And just plain ugly. What did the author think?

I thought I'd make the life easier for users. And yes, it is a quick
 hack.

Maybe you can advise me here too:

These switchable modems often expose more than one vendor class
interface. If a serial driver is bound to them, each results in a
ttyUSB device. Usually only one of them - which has a transfer type
of interrupt - is suitable for the actual connection. Some have
more of these interrupt interfaces though; empiric knowledge says
the lower interface number is right.

My hack made udev create a symlink to the lowest interrupt interface
after mode-switching. To handle the switched device exclusively
(i.e. leaving any existing devices alone), I am storing just the
bus/device number in the temporary file name.

I did this only because I found no immediate way to signal
information from one udev RUN to the next; I'd be happy to scrap the
temporary file if it could be done via something like an environment
variable (but I tried that already).

I would *really* welcome any tips regarding a better way ...

gurlchecker links against libclamav and is thus affected by #577013. As such
it needs to be moved to volatile.debian.org and blocked out of stable
with a RC blocker bug.

The RFC packages appear to have been created in June 2003 and since
then, about 400 RFCs have been created. As a result, over 10% of all
RFCs are missing and many RFCs that have been obsoleted by later RFCs
are included in the packages as if they are still current.

Bug#591586: [Pkg-ace-devel] Bug#591586: Bug#591586: config file

2010-08-05 Thread Marek Brudka
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

Today, I modified slightly debian/config.h
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/pkg-ace/trunk/debian/config.h?view=markuppathrev=704
to include config-freebsd.h when compiled under FreeBSD. I am not sure
and even I cannot verify if this solves this bug. The verification is
rather straightforward:

- - download debian/config.h into debian/
- - fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage -d

Could anyone with KFreeBSD help me with this, please?
If freebsd config is not good enough for kfreebsd, then I need
ace/config.h resulting from configure on KFreeBSD to create a patch for
kfreebsd.

TIA
Marek

W dniu 04.08.2010 21:54, Thomas Girard pisze:
Yes, that's Linux config file. Since Debian GNU/kFreeBSD[0] is not yet
supported upstream, we'll have to provide a working file ourselves (and
 then submit it upstream).

As Marek pointed out, that was one of nice things with the autotools
method. But we can surely use 5.6 generated config file[1,2] for ace on
GNU/kFreeBSD as a starting point to provide one for 5.7.

I won't be able to work on this before at least a week. Any taker?

IIRC, the d-d-a mail asked to use normal severity. But maybe in this
case it is better to use RC severity now. The release team can still
 adjust it as necessary.

Is there any progress on this?

Hi,

Three of the maintainers appear to be MIA, the fourth started some work on
smarty3, yet there are bug reports without response from any of the
maintainers.

Given that multiple packages depend on it and its history of security issues,
the package should be maintained better. There was even a regression in the
last security update but nobody cared to either try to fix it or notify the
security team.

If any of the maintainers still wants to maintain it, please close this report
by making an upload addressing the outstanding issues. Even then, please
consider looking for co-maintainers.

I'm going to orphan the package if there's no response within two-three weeks.

Cheers,

kppp will cause keyboards to stop functioning if using a Zoom USB modem
model 3095.

Here is a lineation of the problem:

1. Click Disconnect button in kppp.
2. kppp announces disconnection, and daemon completely exits.
3. Keyboard no longer functions.
4. Try to reboot system, then system hangs to a blank screen.
5. Once there, must press ctrl+alt+delete once in order to reboot.
6. After restarting, the keyboard works again.

 Hi Eckhart,

The linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 you mentioned did fix the problem with
the modem. However, it lacked drivers for my ATI Radeon Mobility 9000
video card. It seemed to function a bit slower, and would sometimes boot
to a black screen with a functional mouse. So, I unfortunately had to
 resort back to the linux-image-2.6.26-2-686

I'm marking this specific bug as fixed.

Please file separate bugs for the other issues. If you update to Squeeze
completely (i.e. not only the userland, but also the complete OS), you
might try the free ati driver instead. ATI/AMD has opened their driver
specs and the drivers have improved much since then.

If the symptom of intermittent boot screens persists with current kernels,
please also file a separate bug against the kernel for it (severity: normal).

Cheers,
Moritz

pppd will cause keyboards to stop functioning if using a USB modem.

The problem happens *exactly* in this order:

1) Disconnect (kill pppd).
2) Wait for daemon to completely exit (watching syslog)
3) Once down, remove USB cable.
4) Keyboard no longer works.

Interestingly, even a USB keyboard will not work once this happens. I am
running an IBM t23 thinkpad.
When this happens, the *ONLY* way to get back into the machine is restart. Also
note, even if you plug
a USB keyboard in AFTER this has happened, you still cannot use it. I am not
sure if this would be a Xorg
problem, there are no errors being written to Xorgs logs when this happens.

I DO get an interesting log entry - not sure if it is related or not:

-LOG--
Dec 12 11:40:33 astro pppd[4587]: Connection terminated.
// - Hangup as normal
Dec 12 11:40:33 astro pppd[4587]: ioctl(TIOCSETD, N_TTY): Interrupted system

Dec 12 11:40:46 astro kernel: [ 7234.328080] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 4
// - Modem removed
-END--

And thats it. Those are the last 3 log entries that are written. The USB
disconnect is the USB modem
being removed.

The USB modems are also 3G Cell phones (one LG Fusic and another is a palm
centro) - if that has anything to do with it.

I'm marking this specific bug as fixed.

Please file separate bugs for the other issues. If you update to Squeeze
completely (i.e. not only the userland, but also the complete OS), you
might try the free ati driver instead. ATI/AMD has opened their driver

If the symptom of intermittent boot screens persists with current kernels,
please also file a separate bug against the kernel for it (severity: normal).

pppd will cause keyboards to stop functioning if using a USB modem.

I am

kppp will cause keyboards to stop functioning if using a Zoom USB modem

I will work on it (removing the statistics from otrs at all), maybe Mike
can help me ;)

Doesn't look like there is a source code for the swf files in libjs-yui..

Sounds good, replaced the version in DELAYED with attached debdiff.

u-a: Fix use after free causing segfaults on --remove-all

Refactor alternative_choices_free function and use it from
alternative_reset() and for --remove-all. This was causing segfaults
or bogus operation by not removing all choices.

Closes: #591653, #591654

Bug#591805: gitk: old version in unstable is not installable

2010-08-05 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: gitk
Version: 1:1.7.0.4-1
Notfound: 1:1.7.1-1.1
Severity: grave
User: trei...@debian.org
Usertags: edos-unstallable

I tried to contact you privatly about this, but got a confirmation
challenge that asked for a bug report. So, here we go.

gitk in version 1:1.7.0.4-1 is not installable in sid on any
architecture at least since June 21. The reason for that is

Package: gitk
Version: 1:1.7.0.4-1
Depends: git-core ( 1:1.7.0.4), git-core ( 1:1.7.0.4-.), tk (= 8.4)

and we only have git-core 1:1.7.1-1.1 as a binary package in sid.
This versoin of the package should probably be removed from the archive
since we have 1:1.7.1-1.1 which is installable.

Exactly the same holds for git-arch, git-cvs, git-daemon-run,
git-email, git-gui, git-svn, gitweb.

Thanks. This isn't a bug in f-spot, but a bug in pkg-config which was
exposed by autoconf 2.67-1. I'm going to reassign + merge, but you
should be good to retry once autoconf 2.67-2 hits your buildd, as the
maintainer applied a workaround there.

Iain

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for imagemagick (versioned as 8:6.6.0.4-2.1) and
uploaded it to the archive. It's basically just a revert to the
previous version from testing with a bumped epoch, the diff to that
version is attached.

Cheers,
Julien
