Not sure yet, I have successed passed the test of testfs.sh script on

linux-source-2.6.12-6+kernel-patch-vserver-2.0, but never successed on i386.

Could you please run the same test as I did on your side to see if you
can reproduce the error or not?

The upstream author said the test the 109 verifies that barrier was
removed correctly, while the test 121 checks that it was set correctly.
So I think these are potential security holes in current version of
util-vserver in Debian, not only in sarge.

Thanks for raising this. In response: I've updated it wrt policy. It

designed for and is not obviously in need of further enhancement. I'm
unsure whether it's worth keeping in Debian, but it's very low
maintenance (only keeping abreast of Debian policy, which I'd

So for these few users, is it necessary to delete it?

No, as long as the package is maintained, I don't see a problem. Please

Great, thanks. Have done.

No, close your bugs in the changelog. This avoids massively wasting my

mysql-dfsg-4.1 was affected and needs a DSA. Would it be correct if I
close the bug in unstable also the bug is still present in stable?
(I could have used found tags though).

The CAN-2005-2558 is mentioned in the debian/changelog of the unstable
uploads for reference.

Which it wasn't btw, the latest version of mysql-dfsg in the archive was
 released this May.

The unstable version has had build problems for the last months on some
archs (and I was on holyday when the bug was found). Currently I try to
get someone from the s390 team to install me the build-deps in a dchroot
but [EMAIL PROTECTED] seems to go to /dev/null :-(

Anyway I'm working on s390 for unstable/testing and waiting for Martin

Package: dar
Version: 2.2.1-2
Severity: serious

Hi,

Dar is now failing to build on all 64 bit arches.
Configure fails to find the version of gettext in libc and ends
up building the internal version instead, and then fails when
linking, because it's also in libc.

The reason it failed:
configure:9855: checking for GNU gettext in libc
configure:9879: x86_64-linux-gnu-g++ -o conftest -g -O2
conftest.cc 5
conftest.cc: In function 'int main()':
conftest.cc:95: error: cast from 'char*' to 'int' loses precision

This seems be caused by the new g++, which is more strict in
those things.

This seems to fix it:
- libtoolize --force --copy
- aclocal-1.9
- automake
- autoconf

Note that you'll have to take care of timestamp skew issues
(See autotools-dev documentation.)

PS: Your current libtool version seems to be a strange mix of
the 1.5.6 debian version and a 1.5.10.

Kurt

Bug#322133: still not fixed (and UTFC)

2005-09-26 Thread Christian Hammers
Hello Joey

On 2005-09-26 Joey Hess wrote:

the right thing. See recent posts to debian-devel-announce.
Cool...

I do not understand why you are waiting to upload a fix just because
s390 doesn't build. mysql-dfsg 4.0.24-10 is still vulnerable in unstable
 for all architectures.

(actually I got it wrong, it was powerpc not s390, but doesn't matter here)

mysql-server (4.0.x) has been superceeded by mysql-server-4.1 which provides
an empty transitional package called mysql-server since version 4.1.14
which struggles to get into testing though. Since then the mysql-dfsg source
is only used to produce libmysqlclient12 which should be replaced by
libmysqlclient14 soon (release-team asked me to hold that transition back
so I wait until the latest 4.1 is in testing and then ask again).

As the security bugs do only affect the server I did not upload a new
4.0.x version to unstable.

As stable do contain 4.0.x I did not add a not found 4.0.24 to the BTS.
I know that this is not easily visible so if there is any tag combination
that would help you, please let me know.

(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=322133 contains a matrix
of all used mysql versions since woody)

bye,

-christian-

No, close your bugs in the changelog. This avoids massively wasting my
time and erm, lets us know the bug was fixed.

mysql-dfsg-4.1 was affected and needs a DSA.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] points to the party responsible for maintaining the
autobuilder for that architecture, it does *not* point to someone who
manages user chroots on the porter machine. For that, please contact

Hi,

On Fri, Sep 09, 2005, Sam Morris wrote:
A buffer overflow vulnerability exists within Firefox version 1.0.6 and
all other prior versions which allows for an attacker to remotely execute
arbitrary code on an affected host.

When reporting bugs against Epiphany or Galeon, please check whether
Mozilla, their engine, is affected. In the future, the engine of these
browsers might switch from Mozilla to Firefox though.

The problem seems to be when a hostname which has all dashes causes the
NormalizeIDN call in nsStandardURL::BuildNormalizedSpec to return true,
but is sets encHost to an empty string.

This is fixed in Mozilla 1.7.12 by disabling IDN and/or installing a
 patch as explained at:

I agree that this is not a bug in the package, BUT you didn't care to
mention this in the bug report. I did check for help there first. So how
should I know?

showed the relevant part of the output:

First of all I didn't report the bug, just in case you didn't notice.
All I did was give you the information you asked for in the bug report,
namely the kernel version.

 | /proc/misc: No entry for device-mapper found
 | Is device-mapper driver missing from kernel?
 | Failure to communicate with kernel device-mapper driver.
 | Incompatible libdevmapper 1.01.04 (2005-08-02)(compat) and kernel driver

I did not get this message. I only got that one line that was mentioned
in the original bug report. If Noel, who reported the bug, or anyone
else, whould have run something else to get this message, how about
telling them?

Finally one last question, how come it worked with the old version. I
never loaded the dm module by hand, but still it works with sarge, but
not in etch or sid. I would say it might have to do with you removing
the init script that used to modprobe dm_mod, don't you think?

I see that libcrypto++ previously failed to build with an internal
compiler error. Did you try to build it with GCC 3.4 for that reason? If
so, you can revert that change -- gcc 4.0 has seen a recent update which
   should fix those ICEs.

Are you positive about this, Wouter?

I have confirmed that five builds which previously failed now complete
successfully (the three upstream PRs I filed plus flac and zlib). Does
that mean they'll all succeed? Maybe not; but as this change lets 40
previously-failing tests from the test suite now succeed, I'm pretty
sure many of them will now work.

libcrypto++ suffered the famous in cp_expr_size, at
cp/cp-objcp-common.c:101 ICE that affects arm, m68k and hppa; this
is Debian Bug#323133 and upstream PR21123, which doesn't seem at all
   like fixed?

Okay, then I've probably been too optimistic about it in this particular
case.

Bug#324371: Has SAM been abandoned?

2005-09-26 Thread Andrew Schulman
This bug is the most serious of three against SAM. It renders the package
unusable, and seems as though it would probably be fixable just by
recompiling. It's been sitting for 35 days.

Another bug is important, also seems easy to fix, and even includes a
patch. It's been sitting for 321 days!

Even the third, minor bug would probably also be fixed just by correcting
the other two. It's been sitting for 500 days!

Has SAM been abandoned?

Hello,

If you're receiving this message, you have a package that depends on one
of the FLAC libraries (libFLAC, libFLAC++, libOggFLAC, libOggFLAC++.)
Once again, the SONAME of the libraries has increased due to an API
transition and you must rebuild your packages.

Please briefly review the upstream API changelog at:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/changelog.html

to check if any of the API changes affect your FLAC-depending package.
In most cases, a simple rebuild will be sufficient to transition. If you
like, you can version the libflac-dev, libflac++-dev, liboggflac-dev,
or liboggflac++-dev build-dependency to (= 1.1.2-1) to ensure that your
package is autobuilt against the new versions of the libraries.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the transition.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you.

Bug#330157: linux-2.6: [hppa] FTBFS -- hppa patch doesn't apply cleanly.

2005-09-26 Thread Sven Luther
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.12-9
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Hi all, it seems our 2.6.12-9 upload failed on hppa, the log is at :

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=linux-2.6ver=2.6.12-9arch=hppastamp=1127729724file=logas=raw

And the extract of errors is :

  ...
  patching file drivers/serial/serial_core.c
Hunk #1 succeeded at 1930 (offset 1 line).
The next patch would create the file drivers/serial/serial_core.c.orig,
which already exists! Assume -R? [n]
  Apply anyway? [n]
  Skipping patch.
1 out of 1 hunk ignored -- saving rejects to file
  drivers/serial/serial_core.c.orig.rej
  ...
  patching file sound/pci/Makefile
  patching file sound/pci/ad1889.c
  patching file sound/pci/ad1889.h
  make[2]: *** [debian/stamps/source-hppa-none] Error 1
  make[2]: Leaving directory `/build/buildd/linux-2.6-2.6.12'
  make[1]: *** [setup-hppa-none-real] Error 2
  make[1]: Leaving directory `/build/buildd/linux-2.6-2.6.12'
  make: *** [debian/stamps/setup-stamp] Error 2

So, i guess there is some uncleanliness in the serial_core.c hppa patch, or
maybe someting else. Simon Horman mentioned that part of the hppa patch should
be separated and rejoin the main debian patches instead of keeping such a huge
hppa-specific patch, maybe this would be the best time to do this, or at
least try to get that done for 2.6.13-1.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Bug#329156: /usr/sbin/gnome-pty-helper: writes arbitrary utmp records

2005-09-26 Thread Paul Szabo
Dear Loic,

Do you have a CVE ID for this security issue?

No. Sorry, I do not know how to get one. (Nor am sure if this is serious
enough to deserve one.)

Did you check whether libvte4 is affected?

No. Do not know what libvte4 is.

  Do you have a fix?

No. (Fanciful idea: try running xhost, if it fails then surely you do not
own that display. Slow, maybe secure. That is what I use now.)

Cheers,

I beleve only very small percentage of all mysql-server instalations use
ndbc funcionality, so given the chois not to install - most will save
disk space and mirror bandwith :) as for 4.1 - I had the same sugestion
long ago, but I was lazy to report it ;)

Bug#330159: Fix for 1.0-1 build on arm so nvu can enter testing

2005-09-26 Thread Len Sorensen
Package: nvu
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: no longer builds from source

nvu 1.0-1 currently fails to build on arm. Bug #325532 contains the
patch required to make the mozilla source compile correctly on arm (as
well as a number of other architectures). make sure to get the typo fix
a bit further down for the arm patch.

Of course the security team would prefer if everything using mozilla
could use the mozilla package for those libraries and such so that there
are less packages to go fix the same bugs in, but I don't know if that
is currently possible with nvu's build setup. If it did use the
externally available mozilla then this bug would have been solved long
ago since it was fixed in the mozilla upstream a few months ago.

No. Do not know what libvte4 is.

libvte4 is the GNOME 2 zquivalent of libzvt2, you can grab it from:

the source package for this library is vte.

I'd be nice if you could check whether the gnome-pty-helper shipped in

Looking at the source

  vte-0.11.15/gnome-pty-helper/gnome-pty-helper.c

in line 682 it grabs
display_name = getenv (DISPLAY);
and uses it without any sanity checks: yes, surely it is also affected.

Bug#320036: test -e /dev/std{in,out,err} is broken

2005-09-26 Thread Bastian Kleineidam
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

the problem is reproducible when using test -e on a bash shell
prompt:
$ test -e /dev/stdin; echo $?
0
$ ls /dev/stdin
ls: /dev/stdin: No such file or directory

So test -e succeeds, but the file does not exist.

The bad thing is that /etc/init.d/udev is using just that: it
creates symlinks according to the result of test -e. So my system
is also missing the /dev/std{in,out,err} symlinks because of this bug.

Package: grep
Version: 2.5.1.ds1-6
Severity: normal

Today, I updated grep.
After that I found that grep, which is called from my .procmailrc, was
hogging the cpu.

A look at the procmail.log showed:

procmail: Forcing lock on blacklist.lock
procmail: Forcing lock on blacklist.lock
procmail: Forcing lock on blacklist.lock
procmail: Timeout, terminating $FORMAIL -x from: -x sender: | $GREP -iq=
Fwf $BLACKLIST

And yes, top and ps showed a lot of exactly these grep processes hogging =
the CPU.
I examined the $BLACKLIST file and found it to be unchanged from it's
October 2004 content. It contained exactly one byte. I guess a CR.

I removed the file and recreated it with touch and didn't get any
problems with grep after that.

The old package from testing did not expose that behaviour, so I guess
one of these must be the culprit:

* 64-egf-speedup.patch, 65-dfa-optional.patch, 66-match_icase.patch,
67-w.patch speed up grep. Thanks to Nicolas Fran=E7ois

Thanks for notifying.

I woudn't rely on 4.0 beeing unaffected as MySQL did not care
about outdated versions in the past.

I'll check the old versions today and try to fix the FTBFS that
prevents the current 4.1 and 5.0 from testing.

zope3 fails to build from source on m68k. This is likely due
to bug #317475 on gcc-4.0. As a workaround, you might try compiling with
less optimization (-O2 usually works) or gcc-3.3/gcc-3.4.

I'm not sure compiling with (-02) would fix the problem.
Anyway, I've read on planet.d.o (but I'm not sure) that gcc
has been fixed for m68k, so no workaround are needed.

Is this true?

Should be. I'll requeue the build and we'll see for sure.

Bug#330164: mysql-server-4.1: Authentication bypass

2005-09-26 Thread Martin Pitt

Christian Hammers [2005-09-26 15:34 +0200]:
 Hello Martin

 On 2005-09-26 Martin Pitt wrote:

 Thanks for notifying.

I woudn't rely on 4.0 beeing unaffected as MySQL did not care
about outdated versions in the past.

I did a shallow review of the vuln before filing the bug. The root of
the problem seems to be in the check_scramble_323(), which is not
present at all in 4.0. However, actually trying the exploit in 4.0
wouldn't hurt :-)

Thanks,

Martin

P.S. Did I mention that I hate the mysql BK? I failed again to locate
the patch in mysql.bkbits.com...

Severity: serious

In commit r29833 the value of link_in_boot was changed from false to true=20
for i386 and amd64. This change make lilo-installer fail as lilo.conf is=20
configured to expect symlinks for the kernel and initrd in / (if boot is=20
not a separate partition).

The changelog entry for this change (release 1.24) is:
  * Turn link_in_boot on for both i386 and amd64. They should be the same,
and Kamion points out turning it off for amd64 is a regression.

Also, it is a clear regression from Sarge.

My raid install of sarge used grub. Why ever would you want it to use
lilo?

No clue about XFS. I stopped using it after all the bugs it had in 2.6
and leaking tons of memory.

That should be lilo-installer, not lilo, as it is lilo-installer that
 creates the lilo.conf.

However, I would first like to hear what the problem was for AMD64 that
prompted the change in the first place and make sure that RAID and LVM
installs will not be broken by changing things that way.

Neither LVM nor raid (although maybe /boot on LVM would be a problem)
should have a problem with grub.

Or does grub behave that differently on amd64 that it can't support md
raid1 like it does on i386?

2005-09-26 Thread Steve Kemp

Attached are the patches that Joey (Schulze) approved.

Can you (or Joey) comment: did you use a different patch because you
believe mine to be insecure, or for a different reason? (That's an
important question, since as you know, my patch was uploaded to unstable
and will presumably be in the next stable release.)

  Your patch looks good.

The reason that I used the one I did was because it was created
a few weeks ago when there was no other patch publically
available. Had I seen yours at the time I would have used it
instead, rather than going with something different.

I certainly don't think you need do anything drastic like
use the one I made in another upload. Although it was a
 fair question to ask.

Bug#329994: base-installer: lilo-installer fails because vmlinuz symlink is not in /

On Monday 26 September 2005 17:11, Lennart Sorensen wrote:
My raid install of sarge used grub. Why ever would you want it to use
 lilo?

No idea. Just noticed in installation reports that quite a few users
prefer lilo over grub.

Or does grub behave that differently on amd64 that it can't support md
raid1 like it does on i386?

Would not expect that to be the case.

Bug#330164: mysql-server-4.1: Authentication bypass

2005-09-26 Thread sean finney
hi,

MySQL 4.1 and 5.0 are prone to an authentication bypass:

  http://www.nextgenss.com/advisories/mysql-authbypass.txt

um, did you check the date on that advisory?

Name: MySQL Authentication Bypass / buffer overflow
Systems Affected: MySQL 4.1 prior to 4.1.3, and MySQL 5.0.
Severity: High
Vendor URL: http://www.mysql.com
Author: Chris Anley [ [EMAIL PROTECTED] ]
Date of Advisory: 1st July 2004

i actually missed that in my first read-through, and when i saw
they said 4.1.3 and earlier, i assumed it was a mistake. however,
the mysql [EMAIL PROTECTED]'ing bitkeeper entries i found
that i believe fix this are also dated around then.

in any case...

- woody isn't affected, as it doesn't carry 4.x at all
- sarge/4.1 isn't affected afaict, as it ships 4.1.11a.
- as you stated in your next mail, it doesn't seem that sarge/4.0 is affected.
- sarge doesn't carry a 5.0 version
- thus all sid versions should be okay too.

P.S. Did I mention that I hate the mysql BK? I failed again to locate
 the patch in mysql.bkbits.com...

i think the relevant patch is here:

http://mysql.bkbits.net:8080/mysql-4.1/[EMAIL PROTECTED]

and maybe

http://mysql.bkbits.net:8080/mysql-4.1/[EMAIL PROTECTED]

or maybe i'm missing something?

Severity: grave

Hello,

This is a grave bug filed against your package because it depends on
libqt3c102-mt, which no longer exists, thus rendering yor package
uninstallable in unstable. As part of the C++ ABI transition, this
library has moved to the libqt3-mt package.

Simply recompiling and uploading your package should be enough to fix
this; as per this mail [1], you need not bump your Qt, kdelibs or aRts
build-dependencies. Beware, though, that that may not be the case for
all the involved librares. Also, make sure that you build the package
in an up to date and clean sid environment, so that final dependencies
are correct. Please do this as soon as possible in order to accelerate
  the Qt/KDE transition to testing.

[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/09/msg0.html

Perhaps you find that your package fails to compile with gcc4. If
that's the case, there's probably a bug about it in the BTS, and it
may include a patch. If not (or if you have doubts about the
correctness of the patch), you may be able to find a fix in upstream's
CVS, or in the Ubuntu distribution. If your package fails only in arm,
m68k, and hppa, see instructions in the above mail.

Finally, if there's a strong reason for which your package should not
be NMUed, please note so in this bug report. Prospective NMUers will
read your reasoning, and will decide if it's strong enough to delay
  their upload.

Thanks for your cooperation, and happy hacking!

P.S.: There may be an already reported bug against this package for
this very same reason. I've checked for that, and will be merging the
bugs soon. The reason for still filing this bug was to have the
opportunity of including the small bits of information above. I
  apologize for the inconvenience.

opencv fails to build from source on m68k. This is likely due to
bug #317475 on gcc-4.0. As a workaround, you might try compiling with
-O2 or gcc-3.3/gcc-3.4.

A full buildd log is available at
http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=opencvver=0.9.6-2arch=m68k

Other buildd logs may be available at

Bug#328704: libexif-gtk5: dependency problem with libexif-gtk4

2005-09-26 Thread A Costa
Package: libexif-gtk5
Followup-For: Bug #328704

Said Mark Robinson [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Removing libexif-gtk4 (which gtkam depends on) and then reinstalling
 gtkam brings things to rights.

That didn't work on my system, I had to remove 'gtkam' too.
This works:

% apt-get remove libexif-gtk4 gtkam ; apt-get install gtkam

Hope this helps...

Bug#330157: paer.debian.org and kernel builds

2005-09-26 Thread Matt Taggart

Horms writes...

We have a build problem with the kernel on hppa and I was hoping to
use paer.debian.org to do some test builds. If there is a better machine
 please let me know.

paer is the correct machine.

Otherwise, would it be possible to get the following
build dependancies installed in the sid chroot?

 gcc-4.0-hppa64
 module-init-tools
 kernel-package (= 9.005)
 transfig
 xmlto dh-kpatches (= 0.99.3)

Done.

Bug#281647: Accepted grep 2.5.1.ds2-1 (source i386 sparc)

2005-09-26 Thread Adeodato Simó
found 181378 2.5.1.ds2-1
thanks

* Anibal Monsalve Salazar [Mon, 26 Sep 2005 05:47:06 -0700]:

* Removed 64-egf-speedup.patch, 65-dfa-optional.patch,
  66-match_icase.patch and 67-w.patch from debian/patches,
  closes: #329876.

Those patches fixed a bug (and two merged) that had been opened for 2
and a half years. I think it'd be useful if you tried to contact the
authors of the patches, and try to fix them instead of removing them?

* Removed grep.texi from upstream tarball, 50-rgrep-info.patch and
51-dircategory-info.patch from debian/patches, the GNU Free
Documentation License from debian/copyright and debian/fdl.txt,
  closes: #281647.

Still, grep.1 remains, which (a) contains verbatim paragraphs from
grep.texi yet (b) comes in the upstream tarball with a license notice.
Does this mean that grep.1 is?:

- under the GFDL, so should be removed
- under the GPL (the general license of the tarball), despite
  sharing contents with grep.texi
- undistributable, because it has no license attached

  Cheers,

Hi Christian!

MySQL 4.1 and 5.0 are prone to an authentication bypass:

 http://www.nextgenss.com/advisories/mysql-authbypass.txt

4.0 seems to be unaffected. There is no CAN number yet.

Thanks,

Martin

Apart from the db_input about mismatched passwords (or empty
passwords), this will cause a loop as the user is never allowed to
correct his mistake.

It's a trivial fix, just change STATE=8 to STATE=7 (or earlier) and it
goes on it's merry way and the user is prompted again.

This is due to a bug in kdepim-dev (#327159). But they say this bug was
fixed in kdepim-dev with the latest upload. Could you please try
autobuilding kdebluetooth when kdepim-dev 3.4.2-2 is available? If it
does not work then, I'll have to look at it. Thanks.

Bug#330214: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686: kernel panic when using QUEUE target with iptables

2005-09-26 Thread Ilkka Pietikäinen
Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Our userspace software uses QUEUE target with iptables. We have reports from our
customers that their debian systems are chrashing (with panics). With other
distrubutions
we have detected similar behaviour and it is fixed by applying the patch from

https://lists.netfilter.org/pipermail/netfilter-devel/2005-July/020513.html

This is a known problem in vanilla kernel and is already fixed.

Bug#326767: Failure to use return value from realloc (!)

2005-09-26 Thread Noèl Köthe
Am Montag, den 05.09.2005, 16:41 +0100 schrieb Ian Jackson:

 In http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12604 a user reported a
problem with Ubuntu's version of wget which examination of the Debian
source shows is present there too.

Basically, three calls to xrealloc do not update the variable used to
remember where the buffer is, which obviously breaks (and may be a
security problem) if xrealloc moves the buffer.

$ find wget-1.9.1 -name '*.[ch]' | xargs grep 'realloc (dest'
  wget-1.9.1/src/log.c: xrealloc (dest, (len *= 2 +
 MB_CUR_MAX));
  wget-1.9.1/src/log.c: xrealloc (dest, (len *= 2 +
 4 * MB_CUR_MAX));
  wget-1.9.1/src/log.c:   xrealloc (dest, (j + MB_CUR_MAX));

Note that this is in wget-1.9.1-12 after debian/rules build. The bug
was introduced in a security patch. wget-1.10 does not have the same
problem because it doesn't need the same security patch.

The patch I applied to the Ubuntu package is enclosed for your comfort
 and convenience.

thx for your report.
I talked to Debian security and the stable release manager and asked if
this is a security problem for Debian but the answer was:

From a first glance I'd say no unless somebody proves otherwise.

Then you're installing from a broken mirror. The current version of
findutils in testing and unstable is 4.2.25-1.

Since 4.2.24-1 doesn't support the / syntax (sigh), you'll want to add a
versioned build-dependency in the process of fixing this...

hello,

I personaly tried to build it on pure sarge plus mysql-dfsg-5.0 source
from unstable ( apt-get build-deb mysql-dfsg-5.0 apt-get -b source
mysql-dfsg-5.0 ). the build failed.

now I looked into

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=mysql-dfsg-5.0ver=5.0.12beta-4arch=powerpcstamp=1127496406file=logas=raw
and found exactly the same error:

Package: splay
Version: 0.9.5.2-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

splay depends on libid3-3.8.3 which does not exist anymore. A simple
recompilation against the up-to-date -dev packages fixes the problem.

Michael

Bug#329459: still failing

2005-09-26 Thread Rob Browning
Thomas Bushnell BSG [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

This emacs21 bug is still around, blocking some other packages too.
Since version 21.4a-1 works just fine on powerpc, perhaps the
following change in 21.4a-2 might just be the problem? It does rather
 stand out.

  * Apply patch supporting the ppc64 architecture. This is a slightly
modified patch derived from the Emacs CVS mainline.
  (closes: #300368) [Jérôme Marant]
  - debian/patches/arch-ppc64.patch: new file.
  - debian/00list: updated.

Perhaps the ppc64 detection is broken, and so something wrong is
happening on ppc32. Perhaps drop this patch and see if that causes
 the regression to vanish?

That seems likely. I should get a chance to test today or tomorrow.
