Bug#531546: Bug #531546: empty graphs due to 'A DB Exec Failed' Poller[0] ERROR
hi teodor, thanks for looking into this! On Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 02:58:28AM +0300, Teodor MICU wrote: I've been able to reproduce the problem. So far the problem will appear any time I'll activate 'spine' poller. One weird thing is that both CMDPHP and SPINE are present in the cacti.log as if both are running even if I selected 'spine' to do the polling. Note that I'm using cacti=0.8.7g with spine=0.8.7a-2.3 on a Debian 5.0 (lenny) host. do you get the same problems if you also upgrade spine from the lenny version to the squeeze version (0.8.7e-2)? i wouldn't be surprised that the poller from lenny is designed for different sql/schema and thus might not do the right INSERT/UPDATE type statements. if upgrading to the squeeze version of spine doesn't solve the problem, you could also try updating to the latest upstream version (i.e. compiling it yourself and replacing the packaged version), but i haven't been lead to believe that the latest version is so different from the squeeze/sid version. sean signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#597654: postgresql-8.4 8.4.4-2 breaks start ordering of init scripts
reassign 597654 postgresql-common 109 tag 597654 confirmed thanks Hello Adam, Adam Heath [2010-09-21 15:40 -0500]: I just upgraded postgres-8.4 from 8.4.4-1+b1 to 8.4.4-2. This removed the separate postgresql-8.4 init script, and replaced it with a common one. Previously, postgresql-8.4 would start at S19. Ah, sorry about that. I'll move the common one back to 19 then. I have postgresql listed as Should-Start in ofbiz's initscript. However, init dependencies are not active, so normal number based ordering is used. I. e. you removed insserv? I thought that was the (pretty much mandatory) default in Squeeze now. The itchyness is increasing too. But then it's probably too late for intrusive changes. They should've been done directly post-freeze, at the latest. Hi, On Tue, Sep 21, 2010 at 11:56 PM, sean finney sean...@debian.org wrote: some ideas/questions off the top of my head: * did you get any sql upgrade errors after the package was updated? There were no sql upgrade scripts from 0.8.7e-4 to 0.8.7g-1. The upgrade says clearly that there are no scripts to run. I've checked manually in the install directory and these two scripts are just changing the cacti vesion in the database: - 0_8_7e_to_0_8_7f.php - 0_8_7f_to_0_8_7g.php * does the schema seem correct (i.e. a disabled column in the host table)? I don't know anything related to a 'schema', so probably not the issue. If you can tell me what to check, I'll do. * does it work if you disable the spine poller and use the cmd.php one instead? Yes, with 'cmd.php' I get the graphs but still at every 5 minutes there are SQL errors reported (see attached). No, with 'spine' I still get the SQL errors but also only NaN on all graphs. * does it start graphing again if you nuke the rrd files or play around with rrdtool versions? I'll try to avoid playing around with rrdtool again. I did it for the conversion from 1.2x to 1.3x and this is the main reason I'm using cacti from squeeze on a lenny host. esp for the first two items, if you suspect the problem is in the SQL, and have time to help with some QA: i think it would be very helpful to get a db dump of a fresh install vs the db dump of a almost-as-fresh install of the previous version upgraded after maybe half an hour of polling... it could be that there's a bug in the update sql logic. I'll try to do a fresh install, but I don't I'll have the time this week. Thanks 09/22/2010 10:55:34 AM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 60 seconds exceeded for the Script Server. This removed the separate postgresql-8.4 init script, and replaced it with a common one. Previously, postgresql-8.4 would start at S19. The new version starts at S20. So, anything in S20 that required postgresql-8.4, and happens to come earlier alphabetically, will fail to start, as postgresql-8.4 starts too late. I have ofbiz as a deb package(local, not in debian, http://ofbiz.apache.org). I use dbconfig-common to manage configuring the database. I have postgresql listed as Should-Start in ofbiz's initscript. However, init dependencies are not active, so normal number based ordering is used. I've always used S20(the defaults), and everything has worked correctly. This was due to postgresql-8.4 being S19. Ofbiz doesn't require any particular version of postgresql. It'll work with all of them. It'll also work with mysql, and with derby(which is embedded into ofbiz). So I don't see a need to have a versioned Should-Start in its initscript, nor as a Depends on the package. I'm fairly certain this will break full system upgrades too(hence the reason I set the severity to serious). This bug is related to http://bugs.debian.org/585890 I would say that insserv is broken, if multiple packages can't provide the same service. ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: postgresql-common Source-Version: 111 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of postgresql-common, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: postgresql-client-common_111_all.deb to main/p/postgresql-common/postgresql-client-common_111_all.deb postgresql-common_111.dsc to main/p/postgresql-common/postgresql-common_111.dsc postgresql-common_111.tar.gz to main/p/postgresql-common/postgresql-common_111.tar.gz postgresql-common_111_all.deb to main/p/postgresql-common/postgresql-common_111_all.deb postgresql-server-dev-all_111_all.deb to main/p/postgresql-common/postgresql-server-dev-all_111_all.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Bug#597706: linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood: Kernel panic during net initialization
Package: linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood Severity: grave Version: 2.6.32-23 The latest kernel upgrade to my Sheevaplug this morning (from 2.6.32-20 to 2.6.32-23) ends up with the box not booting any longer. The box runs Squeeze, but I hadn't rebooted since upgrading to -20 (so maybe -21 was affected too). I managed to capture the attached output through the serial port. Several attempts to fiddle with stuff (restoring the previous kernel and/or initrd) have given me different backtraces, some involving ipv6 rather than ipv4, but I didn't manage to get full boot sequence, or even a ping. The logs on the DHCP server (on another box) seem to indicate that no DHCP query is sent, so I suspect something wrong in the network code. The NIC itself is probably fine, since the DHCP client built into the U-Boot firmware manages to negociate an IP address (DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPOFFER, DHCPREQUEST and DHCPACK) and ping a host on the net. I'm not sure how I can help debug that, but I'm very willing. I'm not sure how I can help debug that, but I'm very willing. hiya, i'll group two replies together here. On Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 10:57:10AM +0300, Teodor MICU wrote: * does the schema seem correct (i.e. a disabled column in the host table)? I don't know anything related to a 'schema', so probably not the issue. If you can tell me what to check, I'll do. what i meant was something along the lines of comparing mysqldump output when the --no-data option was used (i.e. are all the tables/columns the same between the versions and do the queries look correct). * does it work if you disable the spine poller and use the cmd.php one instead? Yes, with 'cmd.php' I get the graphs but still at every 5 minutes there are SQL errors reported (see attached). No, with 'spine' I still get the SQL errors but also only NaN on all graphs. ok, then my suspicions turn towards spine as the culprit. * does it start graphing again if you nuke the rrd files or play around with rrdtool versions? I'll try to avoid playing around with rrdtool again. I did it for the conversion from 1.2x to 1.3x and this is the main reason I'm using cacti from squeeze on a lenny host. right. and if cmd.php works and spine doesn't, i don't think we should focus too hard on the rrdtool goo. On Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 11:02:05AM +0300, Teodor MICU wrote: do you get the same problems if you also upgrade spine from the lenny version to the squeeze version (0.8.7e-2)? i wouldn't be surprised that the poller from lenny is designed for different sql/schema and thus might not do the right INSERT/UPDATE type statements. I didn't upgrade spine because I'll have to upgrade mysql too (and probably other packages from backports). The weird thing about these SQL errors is that running them manually gives no error but sometimes there are no results returned from the query. okay, this may be where the problem is, though. if upgrading to the squeeze version of spine doesn't solve the problem, you could also try updating to the latest upstream version (i.e. compiling it yourself and replacing the packaged version), but i haven't been lead to believe that the latest version is so different from the squeeze/sid version. There are near zero chances of compiling it myself. I'll probably try a fresh install on a squeeze host with cacti and spine =0.8.7e. Until them I'll stick with cacti=0.8.7e-4. i think backporting the package should be fairly straightforward, assuming your problem is because you don't want to get your hands dirty at least (vs some kinda corporate you can not compile on the web hosts thing). the following should be all you need to do: * make sure there is a deb-src line for squeeze on your lenny box deb-src http://ftp.se.debian.org/debian squeeze main * (as root) apt-get update; apt-get install build-essential fakeroot * (as root) apt-get build-dep cacti-spine * apt-get source -b cacti packages compiled against your lenny packages (i.e. no mysql upgrade required) will then have appeared in the current working directory. i suggest you give it a go before getting to deep into any other troubleshooting. as it should only take a number of minutes to do the above and then a couple runs of spine after that to see if it works. sean -- signature.asc Description: Digital signature

So #584383 is still to be fixed. Cheers, OdyX -- Didier Raboud, proud Debian Maintainer (DM). Bug#597739: Salome: cannot load module salomeloader
severity 597739 normal thanks Thank you for your report. The program should be started with the command runSalome not salomeloader, so the package is usable. Also, 5.1.3-9 and newer versions should not have /usr/bin/salomeloader but /usr/lib/salome/bin/salomeloader. Please check the location of the script, it should not be where you found it. When I run /usr/lib/salome/bin/salomeloader I get the same error, so this is a bug. The salomeloader python module is distributed in /usr/share/pyshared/salome/salomeloader.py . Bug#597707: cron: Cron segfaults while executing jobs
Hi Christian, On Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 6:21 PM, Christian Kastner deb...@kvr.at wrote: Are you by chance using libpam-mount? It was the cause for #401761 and #484122, for example, which exhibited the same symptoms. Yeah, it was a libpam-mount, sorry for the noise :( I realized it a couple of minutes after I sent the bug report. Greetings, Igor
Bug#597778: schroot: Stupid name restrictions is breaking existing setups for no good reason.
Package: schroot Version: 1.4.12-1 Severity: grave I just upgraded schroot to the current version in testing, and now I can't use it anymore because someone got the bright (not) idea that only alphanumeric, dashes and underscores should be allowed in chroot names. It was annoying enough when a while ago the config files started having that (undocumented unless you read the source code and without useful error message) restriction. Put it back to sanity please. If I want to name a chroot rr2.1.0 because that's what is in it, then that's my choice. While you are at it, let me choose the names of my config files too. Breaking existing users is NOT acceptable so stop doing that. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-powerpc64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages schroot depends on: ii libboost-filesystem1.42.0 1.42.0-4 filesystem operations (portable pa ii libboost-program-options1.42. 1.42.0-4 program options library for C++ ii libboost-regex1.42.0 1.42.0-4 regular expression library for C++ ii libboost-system1.42.0 1.42.0-4 Operating system (e.g. diagnostics ii libc6 2.11.2-5 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.4-8 GCC support library ii liblockdev1 1.0.3-1.4 Run-time shared library for lockin ii libpam0g 1.1.1-6Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libstdc++64.4.4-8The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libuuid1 2.17.2-3.1 Universally Unique ID library ii schroot-common1.4.12-1 common files for schroot schroot recommends no packages.
